When I first began transitioning to UX design instead of print design I spent a fair amount of time looking into different programs and classes that were available. After looking at so, so many options I decided to enroll in DesignLab's Design 101 course to get a better feel for how the course would work. While it was certainly a crash course on the basics of all design and design theory, I really enjoyed the program and decided to enroll full time.

The final project for the 101 course was a theoretical website homepage for a favorite travel destination. I chose to create a website for Astoria, OR, which is one of my favorite places to visit. This site was the main project evaluated when I applied to the DesignLab UX academy. This task was to create a fully responsive home page for this theoretical website highlighting a number of features for the user to engage with as they do their research about this town.
